Chapter 1

Welcome to Ekagi and thanks for visiting.

I'm Vicki, founder of Ekagi and long time advocate for sustainable and ethical fashion. I got my first book on sustainability aged 8 and used to drive my parents crazy with my water saving initiatives!

Ekagi has been a long time in the making, but I finally feel ready to take the leap. This isn't my first venture into fashion, in fact I've been in this industry for 15 years. I've even had a brand before which I loved and then gave up because I found something I loved more - travel. So, why now? Well, honestly, this is my passion project and sometimes life gets in the way of passion projects.

Does it feel strange starting a business for the mindful nomad right now, during the second month of lockdown and a global pandemic on the loose? Sure does! But here's the thing. We've come to think of the nomad lifestyle and travel in general as glamorous, far flung destinations. We've come to expect long haul travel as a given and we've almost become too used to it. I think in a way this pandemic will help us to appreciate what we have closer to home and it'll make those long haul trips all the more special. This virus is an awful thing that's happened, that's a given, but personally I'm trying to find the silver linings where I can.

So, what's next. On the blog you can expect lots of free articles on fashion, styling, travel (or staycations right now!), sustainable and ethical living and mindfulness, from both myself, my team and contributors. Plus, right now I'm in the process of developing my own line of clothing designed for the modern traveller who needs quality, function and style.....and sustainability as standard. This will take some time though, so in the meantime I'll be partnering up with like minded companies who offer designs I think you'll love. First though, I've created a charity t-shirt which you'll be able to see very soon. Stay tuned!

I want Ekagi to become a community where we support each other and the sustainable and ethical change makers. Please always feel free to get in touch or leave a comment below, I'd love to hear from you!

Thanks for reading and stay safe,

Vicki
