The fashion secret causes a huge amount of damage around the world - from the sheer volume of clothing that's created and the resources it needs, to the harmful chemicals, extreme use of water and deforestation it causes, fashion certainly has a dark side. Our founder Vicki has been working in the sustainable fashion space for years, designing for other brands and educating on how fashion can become more eco friendly, through her platform The Fashion Business Coach.
The tricky thing is there isn't set rules or guidelines about what a sustainable brand really means and it means different things to different people. This is partly due to the fact that it's not possible to create a garment that's 100% sustainable right now, so there's always some compromises. At Ekagi we want to be really transparent, so you know exactly what is sustainable about our products and what we're still working on. Each item has sustainability information within the product listing and we do a 'product stories' blog post for each item, so that you get a feel for just what goes into each and every one of our designs.
We know that the world of sustainable fashion is a confusing one, with lots of mixed messages out there. On the blog you can also find information to help you as a consumer make eco-friendly choices. If you're new to sustainable fashion, you'll find easy swaps too which will make you wonder why everyone isn't shopping sustainably.
